Product details
A fully upholstered sofa on a solid wood frame with high-resilience foam, drawn from Mackintosh's 1904 Willow Chair. Designed by Nick Ross for Audo Copenhagen.
The Audo Copenhagen Tearoom Sofa is built around a solid wood internal frame, layered with high-resilience foam through the seat and back. The continuous rounded backrest holds consistent shape and support across extended daily use rather than softening into the frame over time.
A wider take on Mackintosh's Willow Chair
Nick Ross drew the Tearoom from Charles Rennie Mackintosh's 1904 Willow Chair, translating the original's vertical emphasis into a wider, contemporary sofa proportion. Available in a range of textile and leather upholstery options.
Features
- Continuous Rounded Backrest – The backrest curves in a single uninterrupted arc without flat sections or angular transitions, giving the sofa a composed, consistent silhouette that reads as a single upholstered volume rather than a frame with applied cushioning.
- Solid Wood Frame with High-Resilience Foam – The internal structure provides stable, consistent support across the seat width, while the high-resilience foam maintains its profile under repeated use rather than compressing permanently at frequently occupied points.
- Inspired by Mackintosh's Willow Chair – The design reference is to Mackintosh's 1904 Willow Chair, specifically its vertical emphasis and composed geometry — the Tearoom Sofa translates this into a wider, contemporary format while preserving the original's sense of structured calm.
- Available in Multiple Upholstery Options – A range of textiles allows the sofa to be specified for residential or hospitality environments with different material and durability requirements.
- Designed by Nick Ross – Ross's approach to the Tearoom Sofa prioritizes the relationship between the backrest's curved form and the seat's proportions — the design is driven by geometric clarity rather than comfort features added independently of form.
